The Columbus Blue Jackets and the Florida Panthers meet in NHL action from the BB&T Center on Monday night.

The Columbus Blue Jackets will look to rebound from a 5-1 loss at the hands of the Dallas Stars in their last matchup. Oliver Bjorkstrand leads the Jackets in scoring with 33 points including a team-high 14 goals and 19 assists while Jack Roslovic has 29 points with a team-high 20 assists. Cam Atkinson also has 29 points with a team-high 14 goals and 15 assists while Seth Jones has 22 points with 18 assists. Patrik Laine and Zach Werenski each have 20 points with Laine logging 12 goals while Werenski has 13 assists. As a team, Columbus is averaging 2.5 goals on 28.9 shots with a 13.9% success rate on the power play while allowing 3.2 goals on 31.8 shots against with a 78% success rate on the penalty kill this season.

The Florida Panthers will look to build on a big 5-3 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning in their last game. Jonathan Huberdeau and Aleksander Barkov share the team-high in scoring with 45 points with Huberdeau logging a team-high 30 assists while Barkov has a team-high 18 goals and 27 assists. Patric Hornqvist has 30 points with 14 goals and 16 assists and MacKenzie Weegar has 25 points with 22 assists and Keith Yandle’s got 22 points with 19 apples at the point for the Panthers this season. As a team, Florida is averaging 3.1 goals on 34 shots per game with a 21.7% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.7 goals on 30.1 shots against with a 79.7% success rate on the penalty kill this season.

Columbus is 22-49 in their last 71 games overall and 16-36 in their last 52 games as an underdog and over is 5-0-1 in their last 6 games as an underdog. Florida is 5-0 in their last 5 home games and 5-2 in their last 7 games following a win while the under is 16-4-1 in their last 21 games as a home favorite. The over is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams in Florida.

The Blue Jackets aren’t the most powerful offensive unit out there and the Panthers have some solid goaltending, but I just get the feeling that this is a game that’s going to end up seeing 8 or 9 goals. Something like a 5-3 or 5-4 game maybe with some overtime in there. I think this could end up being a spot where we see the Blue Jackets rise up to the occasion a bit, so give me the over in this spot.
