The Toronto Maple Leafs and Calgary Flames meet Sunday in NHL action at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

The Toronto Maple Leafs look for a win after winning three of their last four games. The Toronto Maple Leafs are averaging three goals per game and are scoring on 37.5 percent of their power play opportunities. Mitchell Marner leads Toronto with four goals, William Nylander has five assists and Auston Matthews has 27 shots on goal. Defensively, the Toronto Maple Leafs are allowing three goals per game and are killing 80 percent of their opponents power plays. Frederik Andersen has given up 14 goals on 137 shots faced and Jack Campbell has given up two goals on 19 shots.

The Calgary Flames look for a win to build on their 2-0-1 record. The Calgary Flames are averaging 3.7 goals per game and are scoring on 37.5 percent of their power play opportunities. Matthew Tkachuk leads Calgary with two goals, Sean Monahan has three assists and Mark Giordano has nine shots on goal. Defensively, the Calgary Flames are allowing two goals per game and are killing 91.7 percent of their opponents power plays. Jacob Markstrom has allowed six goals on 93 shots faced.

The Maple Leafs are 2-5 in their last 7 road games and 0-8 in their last 8 Sunday games. The Flames are 9-2 in their last 11 games as a favorite and 23-11 in their last 34 Sunday games. The under is 3-0-1 in Maple Leafs last 4 overall. The over is 5-1-1 in Flames last 7 Sunday games. The Maple Leafs are 3-11 in the last 14 meetings in Calgary. The home team is 21-7 in the last 28 meetings.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are showing signs of finally playing consistent hockey, which has been an issue for them over the years. However, the Calgary Flames have been playing solid hockey in their own right and they’ve shown the offensive firepower to hang with the Maple Leafs. Calgary has also been a house of horrors for the Maple Leafs over the years. I back the Maple Leafs a lot and they’re a team I’ll keep watching closely, but I’m leaning toward the Flames in this contest.
