The Boston Bruins and the Philadelphia Flyers meet in NHL action from the Wells Fargo Center on Tuesday night.
The Boston Bruins will look to rebound from a 3-2 overtime loss to the Flyers in their last matchup. Brad Marchand leads the B’s in scoring with 41 poitns including team-highs of 17 goals and 24 assists while David Pastrnak has 31 points with 16 goals and 15 assists this season. Patrice Bergeron also has 30 points with 12 goals and 18 assists in addition to a team-high 119 shots on goal this season. As a team, Boston is averaging 2.7 goals on 32.3 shots per game with a 23.6% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.5 goals on 27.2 shots per game with an 88.4% success rate killing off penalties this season.
The Philadelphia Flyers will look to sweep the back-to-back with Boston after their win on Monday. James van Riemsdyk leads the Flyers in scoring with 31 points including 13 goals and 18 assists while Joel Farabee has a team-high 14 goals and Jakub Voracek leads the Flyers with 24 assists this season. Claude Giroux also has 30 points with 11 goals and 19 assists. Boston is 1-6 in their last 7 games o no rest and 2-5 in their last 7 games as a road favorite while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 road games. Philadelphia is 2-6 in their last 8 games overall and 1-5 in their last 6 home games while the over is 9-3 in their last 12 games against a team with a winning record. Boston is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.
I get the case that could be made for the Flyers here after winning the opener on Monday and having such a quick turnaround and in these cases, the team traveling home usually has the edge. However, Boston’s too good of a team to take these losses lying down in back-to-back games and you’d have to think they’re out for some measure of revenge after the loss on Monday. I’ll take my chances with the Bruins in the rematch.
