The Arizona Coyotes and the Los Angeles Kings meet in NHL action from the Staples Center on Wednesday night.

The Arizona Coyotes will look to bounce back from a 6-2 loss to Colorado last time out. Conor Garland leads the Coyotes in scoring with 19 points including 7 goals and a team-high 12 assists while Phil Kessel and Christian Dvorak each have 16 points with Kessel splitting 8 goals and 8 assists while Dvorak has 9 goals and 7 assists. Jakob Chychrun has 15 points with 5 goals and 10 assists while Clayton Keller and Nick Schmaltz each have 14 points with 6 goals and 8 assists on the year. Darcy Kuemper continues to start the bulk of Arizona’s games, going 6-7 with a shutout and a 2.41 GAA.

The Los Angeles Kings will look to rebound from back-to-back losses to Minnesota after a 4-3 overtime loss to the Wild. Anze Kopitar leads the Kings with 23 points including 19 assists while Drew Doughty and Dustin Brown each have 17 points with Doughty adding 12 assists and Brown chipping in 11 goals to lead L.A. in the goal-scoring department. Alex Iafallo has 14 points with 5 goals and 8 assists while Adrian Kempe and Jeff Carter each have 12 points with Kempe chipping in 5 goals and 7 assists and Carter logging 4 goals and 8 apples. Cal Petersen and Jonathan Quick continue to split time in goal for the Kings, with Petersen logging 4 wins and a 2.43 GAA while Quick has gone 5-5 with a pair of shutouts and a 2.85 GAA in 10 appearances for the Kings.

Arizona is 7-21 in their last 28 road games and 1-8 in their last 9 games following a loss of 3 or more goals while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 road games. Los Angeles is 6-2 in their last 8 games overall and 6-2 in their last 8 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 games as an underdog. The road team is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.

To be completely honest, I’m not understanding all of the love that the Coyotes are getting here. I mean both teams have had their ups and downs but the Kings have really stepped up their play as of late and it just makes me scratch my head as to why they are a dog here. Either way, I’m going to back the Kings and the even money as I don’t think that the Coyotes have done enough to warrant this kind of price.
