The Philadelphia Flyers and the New York Islanders meet in NHL action from the Nassau Coliseum on Thursday night.

The Philadelphia Flyers will look to bounce back from being mauled 9-0 by the New York Rangers in their last matchup. James van Riemsdyk leads the Flyers in scoring with 29 points including a team-high 13 goals with 16 assists while Joel Farabee has 24 points split between 12 goals and 12 assists. Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek each have 21 points with Giroux posting 15 assists while Voracek’s got a team-high 17 assists. Kevin Hayes and Sean Couturier also have double-digit assists as well this season. As a team, Philadelphia is averaging 3.3 goals per game on 28 shots per game with a 20.7% success rate on the power play while allowing 3.3 goals epr game on 29.9 shots against per game with a 74.1% conversion rate on the PK.

The New York Islanders will look to rebound from a 3-1 loss to the Capitals in their last matchup. Mathew Barzal leads the Islanders in scoring with 24 points with 9 goals and 15 assists while Jordan Eberle has 9 goals with 10 assists and Nick Leddy has 18 points with a team-high 17 assists this season. Brock Nelson also has 17 points with a team-high 12 goals this year. As a team, New York is averaging 2.9 goals per game on 30.2 shots per game with a 19.8% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.2 goals against per game with 27.9 shots per game and an 82.6% success rate on the PK this season.

Philadelphia is 0-7 in their last 7 games as an underdog and 0-4 in their last 4 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. New York is 16-5 in their last 21 games overall and 18-6 in their last 24 home games while the over is 6-0-1 in their last 7 games as a home favorite. The home team is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings between these two teams.

I’m sure the Flyers will be out to make amends after getting pumped by the Rangers on Wednesday. However, that performance was an utter disgrace, and both goaltenders saw the ice in that one so there’s bound to be tired legs in the crease for the Flyers. New York’s playing as well as any team in the league right now and you could argue that they should be a bigger favorite here. I’ll lay it and play it with the Islanders in this spot.
