The Vegas Golden Knights and the Los Angeles Kings meet in NHL action from the Staples Center on Monday night.
The Vegas Golden Knights will look to build on their 1-0 win over Arizona in their last outing. Mark Stone leads the Golden Knights in scoring with 42 points including a team-high 30 assists while Max Pacioretty has 36 points with a team-high 19 goals and 17 assists this season with a team-high 149 shots on goal as well. Jonathan Marchessault and Shea Theodore each have 30 points with a combined 43 assists between the two while William Karlsson and Alex Tuch have hit double-digits in goals and assists for the Golden Knights this season. As a team, Vegas is averaging 3.3 goals on 31.8 shots with a 17.5% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.3 goals on 27.9 shots with an 84.5% success rate on the PK this season.
The Los Angeles Kings will look to build on their solid 4-2 win over the San Jose Sharks in their last game. Anze Kopitar leads the Kings in scoring with 42 points including a team-high 34 assists while Drew Doughty has 30 points with 22 assists this season. Alex Iafallo and Dustin Brown each have 25 points with Brown logging a team-high 16 goals and Iafallo recording 11 goals and 14 assists. Adrian Kempe also has 13 goals for the Kings this season. As a team, Los Angeles is averaging 2.7 goals on 29.8 shots with a 21.5% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.9 goals on 31.1 shots with an 84.9% success rate on the PK this season.
Vegas is 49-23 in their last 72 games overall and 42-20 in their last 62 games as a favorite while the under is 4-1-1 in their last 6 games playing on no rest. Los Angeles is 3-7 in their last 10 games overall and 3-14 in their last 17 Monday games while the over is 3-0-1 in their last 4 games as an underdog.
This is a harder game to call than first thought because the Kings have actually done a good job against Vegas lately and Vegas isn’t as strong on the road as they are at home. With that said, I think this is a defensive battle here, as Marc-Andre Fleury never gives up anything easy and for having a 7-10-4 record, Cal Petersen’s got a pretty respectable 2.63 GAA this season. I could easily see a 3-1 game here, so give me the under.
