The Colorado Avalanche and the St. Louis Blues meet in NHL action from the Enterprise Center on Wednesday night.

Nathan MacKinnon leads the Avs in scoring with 52 points including 17 goals and a team-high 35 assists while Mikko Rantanen has 50 points split between a team-high 25 goals and 25 assists. Gabriel Landeskog has 41 points with 16 goals and 25 assists and Sam Girard has 31 points with 26 assists this season. As a team, Colorado is averaging 3.6 goals on 35.3 shots with a 23.4% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.3 goals on 25.1 shots with an 84% kill rate on the PK this season.

The St. Louis Blues will be out to build on their 3-2 win over the Minnesota Wild last time out. Brayden Schenn, Jordan Kyrou and Mike Hoffman all have double-digit goal and assist tallies as well this season. As a team, St. Louis is averaging 2.9 goals on 30 shots with an 18.1% success rate on the PP while allowing 3.1 goals on 29.9 shots against with a 78.6% success rate on the PK this season.

Colorado is 41-15 in their last 56 games against a team with a losing record and 8-3 in their last 11 road games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games as a road favorite. St. Louis is 7-19 in their last 26 home games and 5-12 in their last 17 games overall while the over is 11-4-1 in their last 16 games as a home underdog. Colorado is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.

I get the case that can be made for both sides as Colorado’s the better team and St. Louis is a better team than how they’ve performed for much of the season. However, the Blues just have a hard time winning games at home and sustaining that momentum the odd time they actually do win. Colorado just has a ton going in the right direction for them right now and in this one, are the play for me.
