The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Vancouver Canucks meet in NHL action from Rogers Arena on Thursday night.

The Toronto Maple Leafs come into this matchup looking to build on a 6-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers last time out. Mitch Marner leads the Leafs in scoring with 33 points coming on 10 goals and 23 assists while Auston Matthews continues to lead the NHL with 18 goals in addition to his 13 assists and team-high 82 shots on goal. William Nylander has 9 goals with 10 assists for his 19-point tally while captain John Tavares has 19 points of his own coming on 6 goals and 13 assists. Morgan Rielly also leads Toronto in the assist department with 15 of his 18 points coming via the assist. Frederik Andersen continues to start the bulk of Toronto’s games, picking up his 12th win in the victory over Edmonton but he may see a night off in favor of Michael Hutchinson here.

The Vancouver Canucks will be out to bounce back from a 5-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets in their last matchup. Brock Boeser leads the Canucks in scoring with 25 points including a team-high 12 goals with 13 assists while Quinn Hughes has 22 points with a team-high 20 assists on the year. J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson each have 21 points with Miller chipping in 15 assists and Pettersson logging 10 goals and 11 apples on the year. Bo Horvat also has 16 points for the Canucks this season with 9 goals and 7 helpers. Thatcher Demko and Braden Holtby continue to split time in goal with Demko logging a 5-10 record with a shutout and a 3.06 GAA in his 15 appearances while Holtby’s got a 4-7 record with a 3.56 GAA.

Toronto is 16-5 in their last 21 games overall and 6-2 in their last 8 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 Thursday games. Vancouver is 1-5 in their last 6 games overall and 0-5 in their last 5 home games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600. Toronto is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.

I know the Leafs are on a back-to-back and Vancouver can’t keep losing like this, but realistically this is a light price considering the roll the Leafs are on and the struggles that the Canucks are having. Again, oddsmakers showing no respect to Toronto, but hey that just benefits us. I’ll lay it and play it with Toronto here.
