The Vancouver Canucks and the Ottawa Senators meet in NHL action from the Canadian Tire Centre on Monday night.
The Vancouver Canucks will look to build on a 4-2 win over the Senators in their last matchup. Brock Boeser leads the Canucks in scoring with 37 points including a team-high 17 goals and 20 assists while J.T. Miller has 33 points with 23 assists and Bo Horvat has 32 points split between 16 goals and 16 assists. Quinn Hughes also has a team-high 29 assists for the Canucks this season. As a team, Vancouver is averaging 2.7 goals on 30 shots with a 19.5% success rate while allowing 3.2 goals on 33.8 shots against with a 77.2% success rate on the PK.
The Ottawa Senators will look to bounce back after their loss to Vancouver last time out. Brady Tkachuk, Josh Norris and Drake Batherson all have 30 points with double-digit goal and assist tallies. Tkachuk has 15 goals and 15 assists with a team-high 194 shots on goal while Norris has 17 assists and Batherson has 16 goals. Vancouver is 8-3 in their last 11 games against a team with a losing record and 5-2 in their last 7 road games while the under.is 3-0-1 in their lat 4 games as a favorite. Ottawa is 26-55 in their last 81 games overall and 1-5 in their last 6 home games while the under is 3-0-3 in their last 6 games overall. The favorite is 20-9 in the last 29 meetings between these two teams.
I gave the Senators a look as a home dog as Ottawa plays their best at home and Vancouver may have to be wary of that. However, the Canucks are the only team here with playoff aspirations and need to get wins in these winnable spots with so many back-to-backs on the horizon following their COVID break. I just think the ball is in Vancouver’s court here so to speak and that they need to take advantage of soft spots like this. Give me Vancouver in this one.
