The Arizona Coyotes and the San Jose Sharks meet in NHL action from the SAP Center on Wednesday night.
The Arizona Coyotes will look to rebound from a 6-4 loss to the San Jose Sharks in their last matchup. Conor Garland has a team-high 22 assists while Nick Schmaltz and Christia Dvorak each have double-digit goal and assist tallies this season. As a team, Arizona is averaging 2.6 goals on 27 shots with a 20.3% success rate on the power play while allowing 3.1 goals on 30.4 shots against with a 79.7% success rate on the penalty kill this season.
The San Jose Sharks will look to build on their win over Arizona in their last matchup. Evander Kane leads the Sharks in scoring with 41 points including a team-high 19 goals and 22 assists. Tomas Hertl’s got 32 points with 14 goals and 18 assists and Logan Couture’s on 28 points with 16 goals and 12 assists as well. Arizona is 8-2 in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record and 1-6 in their last 7 road games while the over is 9-3 in their last 12 road games. San Jose is 1-4 in their last 5 home games and 6-13 in their last 19 games following a win while the under is 7-2-1 in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record. The under is 22-8-5 in the last 35 meetings between these two teams in San Jose.
I get that both sides have had their defensive issues at times this season, but realistically, I’m not sure why we still have a total of 5.5 here. Arizona’s stepped up their defensive efforts as of late, and both teams have had issues finding the back of the net this season so I’ll side with the under in a game that I think the first to 3 wins.
