Minnesota Wild vs St. Louis Blues NHL Picks, Odds, Predictions 3/25/21

The St. Louis Blues and the Minnesota Wild meet in NHL action from the Xcel Energy Center on Thursday night.

The St. Louis Blues will look to rebound after ending up on the wrong end of a 5-1 loss to Vegas last time out. David Perron leads the Blues in scoring with 33 points coming on team-highs of 12 goals and 21 assists while Ryan O’Reilly has 31 points with 21 assists of his own and Brayden Schenn’s on 24 points with 12 goals and 12 assists. Jordan Kyrou has 24 points with 14 assists and Mike Hoffman’s on 20 points with 12 apples this season. As a team, St. Louis is averaging 3 goals per game on 29.4 shots per game with a 19.6% success rate on the power play while allowing 3.1 goals on 29.7 shots per game with a 74.5% kill rate on the PK this season.

The Minnesota Wild will look to build on their 3-2 win over Anaheim last time out. Kirill Kaprizov leads the Wild in scoring with 26 points coming on 10 goals and a team-high 16 assists while Mats Zuccarello and Joel Greenway each have 20 points coming on 5 goals and 15 assists. Joel Eriksson Ek also leads Minnesota in goals with 11 goals as part of his 16-point tally this season. As a team, Minnesota is averaging 3 goals per game on 29.8 shots per game with a 10% success rate on the PP while giving up 2.5 goals per game on 29.9 shots against per game, killing off 85.3% of their penalties this season.

St. Louis is 11-5 in their last 16 road games and 2-6 in their last 8 games overall while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games as a road underdog. Minnesota is 16-5 in their last 21 games as a favorite and 6-2 in their last 8 games overall while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 games as a home favorite. The road team is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.

I get why the Blues and plus money looks like it holds some value here but realistically, as well as the Blues have played on the road, St. Louis has regressed overall as of late as they just haven’t been able to keep the puck out of the net. Minnesota’s on a back-to-back, but the Blues are playing some of their best hockey of the season right now and getting them at this price at home where they’ve been so good is too good for me to pass on. I’ll take Minnesota laying the juice in this one.
