The Edmonton Oilers and the Winnipeg Jets meet in game three of their NHL First round playoff matchup from Bell MTS Place on Sunday night.
The Edmonton Oilers will look to bounce back from a heartbreaking 1-0 overtime loss to the Jets in game two that put Edmonton in a 2-0 hole going to Winnipeg for the next two games of the series.
The two sides traded shot leads through the first two periods, with Winnipeg outshooting Edmonton 17-11 in the first and Edmonton outshooting the Jets 12-8 in the 2nd before a close 11-10 edge for the Oilers in the 3rd. Connor Hellebuyck got the win in goal after stopping all 38 shots he faced in the winning effort for the Jets, while Mike Smith took the hard luck loss after giving up the lone goal on 36 shots faced in the defeat for the Oilers.

I think you’re going to see a tight affair in game three, with so much at stake for both sides. Winnipeg can’t afford to give the Oilers a lifeline back into the series and Edmonton can’t go down 3-0 with Winnipeg already stealing home ice unless the series goes to seven games. I think a defensive clinic will be on deck on Sunday and while I do think we see more than one goal, I still see this one coming in under the number so give me the under here.
