Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Montreal Canadiens NHL Picks, Odds, Predictions 5/25/2021

The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montreal Canadiens meet in game four of their best of seven First Round playoff matchup in NHL action from the Bell Centre on Tuesday night.

The Toronto Maple Leafs will look to take a commanding 3-1 series lead after going up 2-1 in the set with a 2-1 win over the Habs in game three on Monday night.

The game was scoreless at the end of the opening frame before William Nylander gave Toronto the lead 7:18 into the 2^nd period. Nick Suzuki tied the game at one with just over six minutes to go in the middle frame but Morgan Rielly would restore the lead for Toronto just 2:39 later. Montreal was all over Toronto in the 3^rd, outshooting the Leafs 15-2, but the Habs would never find the equalizer as Toronto held on for the win and their first lead of the series.

Jack Campbell got the win after stopping 28 of 29 shots faced in the winning effort while Carey Price took the loss for Montreal in goal after allowing both goals on 29 shots faced in the loss.

Toronto is 7-3 in their last 10 games overall and 5-2 in their last 7 games against a team with a losing record. Montreal is 1-6 in their last 7 games overall and 1-4 in their last 5 games played on no rest while the under is 7-3-1 in their last 11 home games. The favorite is 24-9 in the last 33 meetings between these two teams.

I get that there’s a ton at stake for Montreal, but realistically, Toronto stole all the momentum in game three and there’s such a quick turnaround on the back-to-back that you’d have to think that the momentum means just a little bit more or has a bit of extra weight in this spot. Call it a homer pick if you want and if you have been following me long enough you know where my allegiances lie, but I think Toronto keept heir foot on the gas and takes a 3-1 series lead here. Give me the Maple Leafs in this one.
