The Montreal Canadiens and Vegas Golden Knights meet Monday in game one of the Stanley Cup Semifinals at the T-Mobile Arena. The Canadiens are coming off a sweep of the Winnipeg Jets. The Golden Knights are coming off a six-game series against the Colorado Avalanche.

The Montreal Canadiens are averaging 2.55 goals per game and are scoring on 18.8 percent of their power play opportunities. Jesperi Kotkaniemi leads Montreal with four goals, Eric Staal has six assists and Shea Weber has 28 shots on goal. Defensively, the Montreal Canadiens are allowing 2.18 goals per game and are killing 90.3 percent of their opponents power plays. Carey Price has given up 22 goals on 337 shots faced.

The Vegas Golden Knights are averaging 3.08 goals per game and are scoring on 14.3 percent of their power play opportunities. Jonathan Marchessault leads Vegas with six goals, William Karlsson has seven assists and Alex Pietrangelo has 46 shots on goal. Defensively, the Vegas Golden Knights are allowing 2.38 goals per game and are killing 71.4 percent of their opponents power plays. Robin Lehner has given up seven goals on 37 shots faced and Marc-Andre Fleury has given up 23 goals on 299 shots.

The Canadiens are 4-0 in their last 4 road games and 7-0 in their last 7 overall. The Golden Knights are 41-14 in their last 55 home games and 38-16 in their last 54 overall. The under is 18-6-2 in Canadiens last 26 Monday games. The over is 4-1 in Golden Knights last 5 home games. The Canadiens are 4-0 in the last 4 meetings.

The Golden Knights are the better team here obviously and they just beat up on a really good Avalanche squad. Vegas has also been very kind to the Golden Knights, and you shouldn’t make a habit of betting against them at home. However, the Canadiens have been underdogs pretty much all playoffs and yet they’re one of four teams remaining. The Habs have won seven straight and Price is getting stronger and stronger in net. A dominant goalie is sometimes all you need.

I’ll take a shot with the Canadiens and big plus money.
