The Anaheim Ducks and the Edmonton Oilers meet in NHL action from Rogers Place on Tuesday night.

The Anaheim Ducks come into this game on the back-to-back after a 3-2 OT win over Calgary in their last game. The Flames opened the scoring at the 7:43 mark of the opening period but Cam Fowler would tie the game at one with just over four minutes to play in the first. Calgary re-took the lead early on in the second and the lead held up until Rickard Rakell tied things at two with seven minutes to play. The rest of regulation did not produce a winner, so it was off to some free hockey where Jamie Drysdale picked up the winner for Anaheim with just over a minute and a half to play in the extra frame. John Gibson got the win to improve to 2-0 after stopping 41 of 43 shots faced in the winning effort.

The Edmonton Oilers will be out to build on their 2-0 start to the year after a 5-2 win over the Flames in their last matchup. Derek Ryan opened the scoring for the Oilers with just under seven minutes to play in the first before Connor McDavid doubled Edmonton’s lead with 2:31 to go in the first. McDavid doubled his tally and pushed the lead to 3-0 early in the 2nd before Calgary finally got on the board. Calgary cut the deficit to 3-2 5:03 into the 3rd period, but the Oilers responded just :26 later thanks to Jesse Puljujarvi’s marker before McDavid completed his hat trick on an empty net with 1:37 to go, icing the win for Edmonton. Mike Smith got his 2nd win of the year after stopping 45 of 47 shots faced in the victory.

Anaheim is 18-41 in their last 59 games as an underdog and 2-5 in their last 7 road games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games against a team with a winning record. Edmonton is 2-5 in their last 7 games overall and 4-1 in their last 5 games following a win while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 Tuesday games.

In most cases, I’d be looking to make a case for a dog getting this kind of plus money early in the season, especially with the way the Ducks have started off. However, the Oilers are not a team you want to be up against with tired legs, as they now have two lines that can do damage with Draisaitl and McDavid split up. I just think it’s a bad schedule spot for the Ducks, so give me the Oilers -1.5 instead of paying this crazy price early on.
