The Los Angeles Kings and the Nashville Predators meet in NHL action from Bridgestone Arena on Tuesday night.

The Los Angeles Kings come into this game will look to rebound from a 3-2 loss at the hands of the Minnesota Wild last time out. The game was scoreless into the first intermission, but Viktor Arvidsson would push L.A. in front just 5:23 into the second. Minnesota responded with an equalizer just :54 later and took the lead with just over eight minutes to play in the middle frame. The Wild went 3-1 ahead by the end of the second period and although Anze Kopitar got one back for the Kings in the 3rd, it wasn’t enough as 3-2 was the closest the Kings would get. Jonathan Quick took the loss, allowing 3 goals on 30 shots faced in the defeat.

The Nashville Predators will still be looking for their first win of the season after a 3-2 loss to Carolina in their last game. The Hurricanes took the lead just 6:19 into the game with what was the only goal of the first, but Ryan Johansen would respond for Nashville with the lone goal of the second frame. The 1-1 score held through the rest of the second and most of the 3rd before Carolina took the lead for good with six minutes to go in the game, potting an empty-netter with 1:12 to go. Filip Forsberg added what turned out to be a consolation goal with :45 to play, but the Predators still fell short at the final horn. Juuse Saros took the loss, falling to 0-2 after allowing 2 goals on 31 shots faced in the losing effort.

Los Angeles is 1-6 in their last 7 games overall and 25-52 in their last 77 road games while the under is 9-2 in their last 11 games against the Central division. Nashville is 16-5 in their last 21 games as a favorite and 0-4 in their last 4 games overall while the over is 7-1 in their last 8 games against the Pacific division.

I’ve been highly critical of both of these teams over the last year or so, and part of it is because I don’t trust the goaltending. However, Cal Petersen’s stood on his head a fair bit early on this season and Juuse Saros is a veteran who knows his way around, so I’m leaning towards the under here. I think this could be a big momentum builder for whoever ends up on top here, so give me the under in a defensive battle.
