The Edmonton Oilers and the Los Angeles Kings meet in NHL action from the Crypto.com Arena on Thursday night.

The Edmonton Oilers will look to build on their current five-game win streak after a 2-1 OT win over San Jose last time out. Connor McDavid leads the Oilers in scoring with 106 points with 41 goals and a team-high 65 assists while Leon Draisaitl has 101 points with a team-high 50 goals and 51 assists. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has 44 points with 34 assists and Zach Hyman has 48 points with 24 goals this season. Mikko Koskinen has seen the bulk of Edmonton’s action in goal, going 25-10-3 with a 3.10 GAA and a .902 save percentage while Stuart Skinner has gone 6-6 with a 2.62 GAA and a .913 save percentage and Mike Smith’s 10-9-2 with a 3.24 GAA and a .901 save percentage this season.

The Los Angeles Kings will look to rebound from a 3-2 loss to Calgary last time out. Anze Kopitar leads the Kings in scoring with 61 points including a team-high 43 assists and 18 goals while Viktor Arvidsson has 41 points with 19 goals and 22 assists and Adrian Kempe’s point total is at 47 with a team-high 31 goals of his own. Jonathan Quick’s gone 17-12-9 with a 2.66 GAA and a .909 save percentage this season between the pipes for the Kings while Cal Petersen’s gone 20-12-1 with a 2.70 GAA and a .902 save percentage.

Edmonton is 5-0 in their last 5 games overall and 4-0 in their last 4 games following a win while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games against a team with a winning record. Los Angeles is 6-1 in their last 7 games played on 2 day’s rest and 6-18 in their last 24 games as a home underdog while the over is 3-1-1 in their last 5 home games.

I get the case to be made either way here, and while I do like the Kings and think they’re a live dark horse in the postseason, the reality is that the Kings are banged up right now and the Oilers are rolling along right now, winning five in a row. I think the Oilers have a good shot at making it six so I’ll lay the cheap price on the road with the Oilers here.
