The Florida Panthers and the Anaheim Ducks meet in NHL action from the Honda Center on Sunday night.
The Florida Panthers will be out to bounce back from a 5-4 loss to the Los Angeles Kings in their last game. Going into Saturday’s game, Matthew Tkachuk has a team-high 16 points with 5 goals and 11 assists while Aleksander Barkov and Carter Verhaeghe each have 9 points with Barkov logging 7 assists while Verhaeghe has 5 goals of his own this season. Sergei Bobrovsky has posted a 3-3-1 record with a 3.03 GAA and a .901 save percentage while Spencer Knight is 3-1 with a 2.53 GAA and an .899 save percentage in goal for Florida this season.
The Anaheim Ducks will look to build on a 5-4 win over the San Jose Sharks in their last game. Entering Saturday, Troy Terry leads the Ducks with 15 points including 5 goals and a team-high 10 assists while Trevor Zegras has 10 points with a team-high 7 goals and Ryan Strome has 8 points with 3 goals and 5 assists. Frank Vatrano also has 5 points with 4 goals as well this season. John Gibson has gone 2-6-1 with a 4.58 GAA and an .883 save percentage while Anthony Stolarz is 1-1 with a 3.96 GAA and an .899 save percentage this season.
Florida is 48-14 in their last 62 games against a team with a losing record and 1-4 in their last 5 road games while the under is 6-1-1 in their last 8 games against the Western Conference. Anaheim is 1-5 in their last 6 games played on no rest and 12-55 in their last 67 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 Sunday games.
I get the case to be made either way in this game, but I’m leaning towards the Panthers to win this game in regulation. The Ducks got the win on Saturday, but they’re on the back-to-back for this game and it seems like the only team the Ducks beat lately is the Sharks. The Panthers are on the back-to-back as well and haven’t looked right for much of this season, but this seems like a good spot to work out some kinks and for the Panthers to get one in the win column to build some confidence. I’ll side with the Panthers in regulation.
