The New Jersey Devils and the Detroit Red Wings meet in NHL action from Little Caesars Arena on Tuesday night.

The New Jersey Devils will be looking to rebound from a 6-3 loss at the hands of the Washington Capitals in their last game. Jesper Bratt leads the Devils with a team-high 8 assists as part of his 9 points while Nico Hischier has logged 6 points with a pair of goals and 4 assists. Ondrej Palat has a team-high 3 goals while Jack Hughes has 3 points and Dougie Hamilton has 4 points as well, with Hughes logging a pair of assists and Hamilton chipping in a pair of goals as well this season. Mackenzie Blackwood has gone 3-2 with a 2.02 GAA and an .871 save percentage while Vitek Vanecek is 0-1 with a 5.00 GAA and a .773 save percentage of his own this season.

The Detroit Red Wings will try to build on their 5-1 win over Anaheim last time out. Dominik Kubalik has a team-high 8 points with 3 goals and 5 assist while Dylan Larkin’s got 7 points with 3 goals and 4 assists. David Perron, Oskar Sundqvist and Olli Maatta each have 5 points with Perron logging a team-high 4 goals while Maatta and Sundqvist each have 4 assists on the year. Ville Husso has gone 2-0-1 with a 2.00 GAA and a .939 save percentage while Alex Nedeljkovic is 1-0-1 with a 2.96 GAA and a .912 save percentage between the pipes for Detroit this season.

New Jersey is 23-52 in their last 75 games overall and 14-39 in their last 53 road games while the over is 7-1 in their last 8 games against the Atlantic division. Detroit is 3-8 in their last 11 home games and 26-65 in their last 91 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 19-7-1 in their last 27 home games.

I keep trying to find a reason to back New Jersey with some level of confidence, but I simply can’t do it. The Devils are just not a team I’m looking to back, especially after getting their teeth kicked in on Monday and now on a back-to-back against a Red Wings team that plays their better hockey at home and has been pretty good out of the gate so far. The Devils have also had little success winning in Detroit, so I’ll side with the Red Wings at home here.
