The Ottawa Senators and the Detroit Red Wings meet in NHL action from the Little Caesars Arena on Saturday night.
The Ottawa Senators will look to build on a 4-3 OT win over Washington last time out. Brady Tkachuk leads the Senators in scoring with 37 points including a team-high 13 goals and 24 assists while Alex DeBrincat has 35 points with 13 goals and 22 assists this season. Claude Giroux also has 31 points with 14 goals of his own and 15 assists while Drake Batherson has 34 points with 12 goals and 22 assists this season. Anton Forsberg’s gone 5-8-2 with a 3.23 GAA and a .906 save percentage while Cam Talbot is 10-8-1 with a 2.68 GAA and a .914 save percentage this season.
The Detroit Red Wings will try to bounce back from a 6-3 loss to Buffalo last time out. Dylan Larkin leads Detroit with 13 goals and 19 assists for his 32 points while Dominik Kubalik has 28 points with 12 goals and 16 assists. Filip Hronek has 26 points with 7 goals and 19 assists and David Perron has 27 points with 12 goals and 15 assists. Ville Husso has gone 12-6-5 with a 2.86 GAA and a .908 save percentage while Alex Nedeljkovic is 2-4-2 with a 4.09 GAA and an .880 save percentage between the pipes for Detroit this season.
Ottawa is 5-1 in their last 6 games against the Eastern Conference and 4-1 in their last 5 games following a win while the under is 6-0 in their last 6 games after their opponent allows 5 or more goals in their previous game. Detroit is 1-5 in their last 6 home games and 1-4 in their last 5 Saturday games while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 games overall.
I get the case to be made for Detroit at home because at one time, home ice was really the only place you could find Detroit getting results. That being said, the Red Wings have been struggling big time as of late, and the Ottawa Senators have been in just much better form and have also had the Red Wings number in a lot of recent meetings. I think the Senators get the win here and add to Detroit’s misery so give me the Sens in this one.
