The Carolina Hurricanes and the Florida Panthers meet in an NHL matchup from FLA Live Arena on Wednesday night.
The Carolina Hurricanes will look to rebound from a 3-1 loss at the hands of Toronto in their last game. Martin Necas has a team-high 17 points with 7 goals and a team-high 10 assists while Sebastian Aho also has 8 assists along with 7 goals as part of his 15 points. Andrei Svechnikov also has 14 points with a team-high 8 goals this season. Frederik Andersen has gone 5-3 with a 2.72 GAA and an .891 save percentage while Antti Raanta is 3-0-1 with a 2.42 GAA and a .905 save percentage in goal for Carolina so far this season.
The Florida Panthers will look to build on back-to-back wins after a 5-3 win over Anaheim last time out. Matthew Tkachuk has a team-high 17 points with 5 goals and 12 assists while Carter Verhaeghe has 13 points with a team-high 8 goals and 5 assists and Brandon Montour has 12 points with 4 goals and 8 helpers. Aleksander Barkov also has 10 points with 8 assists of his own this season. Sergei Bobrovsky has posted a 3-4-1 record with a 3.29 GAA and an .897 save percentage while Spencer Knight is 4-1 with a 2.63 GAA and a .903 save percentage in goal for Florida this season.
Carolina is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall and 5-0 in their last 5 games after allowing 3 goals or less in the previous game while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 Wednesday games. Florida is 8-0 in their last 8 Wednesday games and 1-6 in their last 7 games when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in the previous game while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall.
I get the reasoning for backing either side in this game, but I’m leaning towards the Hurricanes. Carolina’s been so good on the road so far this year and while Florida’s had success in this matchup, the Panthers still haven’t looked right consistently this season. I think this is one of those games that’s tight throughout, but in the end I have the Hurricanes getting the win.
