The New Jersey Devils and the Florida Panthers meet in NHL action from the FLA Live Arena on Wednesday night.

The New Jersey Devils will look to rebound from a 4-1 loss at the hands of the Carolina Hurricanes in their last matchup. Jack Hughes leads the Devils in scoring with 37 points including a team-high 17 goals and 20 assists while Jesper Bratt also has 31 points with a team-high 21 assists. Nico Hischier also has 29 points with 13 goals and 16 assists this season. Vitek Vanecek is 12-4-2 with a 2.45 GAA and a .908 save percentage while Akira Schmid has gone 5-3 with a 1.96 GAA and a .932 save percentage of his own this season.

The Florida Panthers will try to bounce back from a 7-3 loss to the Boston Bruins in their last game. Matthew Tkachuk has a team-high 39 points with 14 goals and 25 assists while Brandon Montour has 26 points and Carter Verhaeghe has 28 points with Montour logging 20 assists while Verhaeghe has 17 goals of his own this season. Sam Bennett also has 22 points with 15 assists as well on the year. Sergei Bobrovsky has posted a 7-9-1 record with a 3.26 GAA and a .894 save percentage while Spencer Knight is 8-5-3 with a 2.93 GAA and a .909 save percentage in goal for Florida this season.

New Jersey is 0-6 in their last 6 games overall and 0-4 in their last 4 Wednesday games while the under is 6-0 in their last 6 games against the Atlantic division. Florida is 8-0 in their last 8 Wednesday games and 4-1 in their last 5 games after allowing 5 goals or more in the previous game while the under is 4-1-1 in their last 6 games against the Eastern Conference.

I get the case to be made for the Devils and the plus money, but this New Jersey team just looks like they’ve fallen and can’t get up as this is the first time we’ve seen a sustained losing streak from the Devils this season. As far as I’m concerned, until the Devils wake up and show signs of turning things around, you keep going the other way. Florida hasn’t been a world-beater, but they perform well at home and are just in better form, which isn’t saying much on the other side of the Devils. Either way, I’ll take Florida here.
