The Los Angeles Kings and Minnesota Wild meet Saturday in NHL action at the Xcel Energy Center. The Los Angeles Kings are still looking for their first win of the season. The Minnesota Wild also need a win after losing their opener to the Rangers.
The Los Angeles Kings are averaging 2 goals per game and are scoring on 12.5 percent of their power play opportunities. Gabriel Vilardi leads Los Angeles with 1 goal, Anze Kopitar has 1 assist and Trevor Moore has 5 shots on goal. Defensively, the Los Angeles Kings are allowing 4 goals per game and are killing 81.8 percent of their opponent’s power plays. Jonathan Quick has given up 7 goals on 72 shots faced.
The Minnesota Wild are averaging 3 goals per game and are scoring on 25 percent of their power play opportunities. Matt Boldy leads Minnesota with 2 goals, Jacob Middleton has 1 assist and Joel Eriksson Ek has 8 shots on goal. Defensively, the Minnesota Wild are allowing 7 goals per game and are killing 80 percent of their opponent’s power plays. Marc-Andre Fleury has given up 7 goals on 35 shots faced.
The Kings are 4-1 in their last 5 Saturday games and 0-4 in their last 4 overall. The Wild are 52-19 in their last 71 home games and 0-4 in their last 4 overall. The under is 3-0-2 in Kings last 5 Saturday games. The over is 40-19-1 in Wild last 60 home games. The Kings are 0-4 in the last 4 meetings in Minnesota and 1-5 in the last 6 meetings.
The Minnesota Wild are going to be favored for obvious reasons, and they’ve been a buzz saw at home over the years. The Los Angeles Kings have had their issues through 2 games and probably aren’t worth a look on the road. However, the Wild were sloppy defensively in their season opener, and I’m not running to the window to lay these sorts of prices given what we just saw. If forced to pick this game, I’d take a shot with the Kings and a chance to make 1.5 times my money.
