The Philadelphia Flyers and the New Jersey Devils meet in NHL action from the Prudential Center on Thursday night.
The Philadelphia Flyers will try to snap a four-game losing streak after a 3-2 loss to Colorado last time out. Kevin Hayes has a team-high 29 points with 9 goals and a team-high 20 assists while Travis Konecny has 25 points with a team-high 11 goals and 14 assists. Joel Farabee has 15 points with 5 goals and 10 assists as well this season. Carter Hart’s gone 8-8-6 with a 2.84 GAA and a .909 save percentage while Felix Sandstrom is 1-6-1 with a 3.37 GAA and an .888 save percentage in goal for Philadelphia this season.
The New Jersey Devils will look to snap a three-game losing skid after a 4-1 loss to Dallas in their last game. Jack Hughes leads the Devils in scoring with 34 points including a team-high 15 goals and 19 assists while Jesper Bratt also has 30 points with a team-high 20 assists. Nico Hischier also has 29 points with 13 goals and 16 assists this season. Mackenzie Blackwood has gone 4-2 with a 2.79 GAA and an .880 save percentage while Vitek Vanecek is 12-2-2 with a 2.39 GAA and a .912 save percentage of his own this season.
Philadelphia is 21-61 in their last 82 games overall and 11-40 in their last 51 road games while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games against the Eastern Conference. New Jersey is 21-6 in their last 27 games overall and 10-3 in their last 13 games against the Eastern Conference while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games against a team with a winning percentage below .400.
I get the reasoning for backing either side in this game, but I’m leaning towards the Flyers +1.5 here. This is a true rivalry game between two teams that could really use the win, and Philadelphia’s issue lately is that they’ve been in games but haven’t been able to close the deal and I worry that’s what could end up happening here as well. I think this is a one goal game whichever way you have it going, so give me the Flyers +1.5 here.
