The Anaheim Ducks and the New York Rangers meet in NHL action from Madison Square Garden on Monday night.
The Anaheim Ducks will look to rebound from a 7-1 loss at the hands of the New York Islanders last time out. Troy Terry has a team-high 4 points with 3 goals while Ryan Strome has 3 assists with a pair of assists. Trevor Zegras, John Klingberg and Mason McTavish each have a pair of points with McTavish and Klingberg logging a pair of assists apiece. John Gibson’s posted a 1-1 record with a 5.35 GAA and an .880 save percentage for the Ducks in goal this season.
The New York Rangers will look to bound back from their first loss of the season coming in the form of a 4-1 loss to the Winnipeg Jets last time out. Artemi Panarin has a team-high 6 points with a team-high 5 assists while Mika Zibanejad has 4 points with a pair of goals and a pair of assists. Vincent Trocheck and Chris Kreider each have 3 points with Trocheck putting up a pair of assists while Kreider has a pair of goals. Igor Shesterkin’s gone 2-0 with a 2.02 GAA and a .935 save percentage while Jaroslav Halak is 0-1 with a 3.05 GAA and a .909 save percentage on the year.
Anaheim is 7-20 in their last 27 road games and 11-52 in their last 63 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 5-0-1 in their last 6 games overall. New York is 36-15 in their last 51 home games and 2-5 in their last 7 games overall while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600.
I get the reasoning for backing a decent-sized underdog early on in the year. However, the Ducks really struggle on the road and have really struggled against the better teams that they’ve played on their schedule. The Rangers are the far better team with far better goaltending and I think they get a multi-goal victory in this one so back the Rangers on the -1.5 puck line.
