The Vegas Golden Knights and the Ottawa Senators meet in NHL action from Canadian Tire Center on Thursday night.
The Vegas Golden Knights will look to build on their current five-game win streak after a 3-2 OT win over Washington last time out. Jack Eichel leads the Golden Knights with 12 points including a team-high 5 goals and 7 assists while Chandler Stephenson and Alex Pietrangelo each have 9 points with Stephenson logging 4 goals with 5 assists while Pietrangelo has a team-high 9 assists. William Karlsson, Mark Stone, Shea Theodore and Jonathan Marchessault each have 8 points with Marchessault logging 5 goals of his own while Karlsson has 4 goals with 4 assists and Stone and Theodore each have 5 assists. Logan Thompson’s gone 5-2 with a 1.73 GAA and a .938 save percentage while Adin Hill is 4-0 with a 1.72 GAA and a .940 save percentage as well this season.
The Ottawa Senators will look to snap a three-game losing skid after their 4-3 loss to Tampa Bay in their last game. Brady Tkachuk leads the Sens in scoring with 12 points split between 6 goals and 6 assists while Drake Batherson has 11 points with a team-high 8 assists. Alex DeBrincat has 8 points with 6 assists while Shane Pinto has 7 points with 6 goals. Anton Forsberg’s gone 3-5 with a 3.18 GAA and a .909 save percentage in goal for Ottawa so far this season.
Vegas is 5-1 in their last 6 road games and 61-29 in their last 90 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 6-0-2 in their last 8 games overall. Ottawa is 4-1 in their last 5 home games and 5-13 in their last 18 games against the Pacific division while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600.
I get the reasoning for backing Ottawa at home here, as the Senators have been scoring goals for fun as of late. However, Vegas has won 7 of the 8 all time meetings between these two teams and while I do like the future of Ottawa long term, the fact is they’re struggling right now while Vegas comes in on the heels of five straight wins. I’ll take the Golden Knights to keep their momentum going here with a win at a nice price.
