The Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers meet in NHL action from the Wells Fargo Center on Friday.
The Pittsburgh Penguins will look to build on their current four-game win streak after a 2-1 shootout win over the Calgary Flames last time out. Sidney Crosby has a team-high 27 points with 10 goals and 17 assists while Evgeni Malkin has 20 points split between 8 goals and 12 assists. Jake Guentzel has also chipped in 18 points with a team-high 10 goals and 8 assists this season. Tristan Jarry has gone 7-3-2 with a 3.09 GAA and a .910 save percentage while Casey DeSmith is 3-4-1 with a 2.88 GAA and a .909 save percentage in goal for Pittsburgh this season.
The Philadelphia Flyers will hope to snap their eight-game losing skid after a 3-2 OT loss to the Capitals last time out. Travis Konecny leads the Flyers in scoring with 19 points including a team-high 7 goals and 12 assists while Kevin Hayes has 19 points with 14 assists. Pittsburgh is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall and 5-1 in their last 6 road games while the over is 12-2 in their last 14 division games. Philadelphia is 1-4 in their last 5 home games and 12-46 in their last 58 games against the Eastern Conference while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 division games.
I get the reasoning for taking a home underdog in some spots, but the truth is that sometimes it’s as simply as backing the better team. The Penguins have turned it around after a sluggish run a couple of weeks ago, while the Flyers are in free fall after their hot start to the year. I want no part of the Flyers right now. Give me the Penguins by default.
