The Calgary Flames and the Pittsburgh Penguins meet in NHL action from the PPG Paints Arena on Wednesday night.

The Calgary Flames will look to build on back-to-back wins after a 5-2 win over Philadelphia last time out. Elias Lindholm leads the Flames in scoring with 16 points including 6 goals and 10 assists while Nazem Kadri bas 15 points with a team-high 8 goals and 7 assists. Rasmus Andersson has 14 points with a team-high 12 assists and Tyler Toffoli also has 13 points with 6 goals and 7 assists. Jacob Markstrom’s gone 8-4-2 with a 3.03 GAA and an .889 save percentage while Dan Vladar is 1-3 with a 3.33 GAA and an .881 save percentage between the pipes for Calgary this season.

The Pittsburgh Penguins will hope to build on their current three-game win streak after a 5-3 win over Chicago last time out. Sidney Crosby has a team-high 27 points with 10 goals and 17 assists while Evgeni Malkin has 20 points split between 8 goals and 12 assists. Jake Guentzel has also chipped in 18 points with a team-high 10 goals and 8 assists this season. Tristan Jarry has gone 6-3-2 with a 3.27 GAA and a .904 save percentage while Casey DeSmith is 3-4-1 with a 2.88 GAA and a .909 save percentage in goal for Pittsburgh this season.

Calgary is 10-1 in their last 11 Wednesday games and 4-1 in their last 5 games overall while the over is 4-1-4 in their last 9 Wednesday games. Pittsburgh is 0-5 in their last 5 games against the Pacific division and 0-4 in their last 4 games played on 2 days rest while the over is 4-1 in their last.5 games overall.

I get the case to be made for either side in this game, but I’m landing on the over here. I still don’t trust Calgary 100% yet and a lot of it has to do with questionable goaltending. On the other side, the Penguins have picked up some wins in recent outings and have had plenty of goals in those games and I think this is one of those games that you may not expect it to but it finishes 5-4 so I’ll side with the over in this one.
