The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Tampa Bay Lightning meet in NHL action from the Amalie Arena on Saturday night.
The Toronto Maple Leafs will be out to build on their current five-game win streak after a 3-1 win over San Jose last time out. Mitch Marner leads the Leafs with 29 points including a team-high 21 assists while John Tavares is right behind with 26 points including 12 goals. Auston Matthews has 27 points with 12 goals and 15 assists and William Nylander has 25 points with a team-high 13 goals and 12 assists this season. Ilya Samsonov’s 7-2 with a 2.09 GAA and a .924 save percentage in goal for Toronto so far this season.
The Tampa Bay Lightning will try to build on a 4-1 win over Philadelphia in their last game. Nikita Kucherov leads the Lightning with 35 points including a team-high 25 assists while Steven Stamkos has 28 points with a team-high 13 goals on the year. Brayden Point also has 24 points with 10 goals and 14 assists while Mikhail Sergachev has 22 points with 4 goals and 18 assists this season. Andrei Vasilevskiy is 9-7-1 with a 2.77 GAA and a .908 save percentage while Brian Elliott is 5-1 with a 3.62 GAA and an .886 save percentage so far between the pipes for Tampa Bay.
Toronto is 4-0 in their last 4 division games and 5-0 in their last 5 games overall while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games against the Eastern Conference. Tampa Bay is 4-0 in their last 4 Saturday games and 7-2 in their last 9 games overall while the over is 8-2 in their last 10 home games.
I get why the Lightning are favored at home, but the thing is that you have to imagine the Leafs have had this game circled since the Lightning bounced them from the playoffs last year and the fact that the Leafs have managed to maintain their focus and continue to play solid hockey over the course of this win streak is incredible. I think the Leafs roll into Tampa Bay and pick up the win so give me Toronto here.
