The Montreal Canadiens and the Washington Capitals meet in NHL action from the Capital One Arena on Saturday afternoon.

The Montreal Canadiens will try to snap a four-game losing skid after a 7-2 loss to Florida in their last game. Nick Suzuki has a team-high 31 points with 15 goals and 16 assists while Cole Caufield also has 28 points with 19 goals of his own and Kirby Dach has 22 points with 17 assists of his own on the year. Jake Allen is 9-14-1 with a 3.29 GAA and a .900 save percentage while Sam Montembault is 6-4-2 with a 3.23 GAA and a .904 save percentage between the pipes for Montreal this season.

The Washington Capitals will look to bounce back from a 4-3 OT loss to Ottawa in their last game. Alex Ovechkin has a team-high 42 points with a team-high 23 goals and 19 assists. Dylan Strome also has 27 points with 20 assists while Evgeny Kuznetsov also has a team-high 24 assists as part of his 30 points up to this point in the year. Darcy Kuemper has gone 10-9-3 with a 2.47 GAA and an .920 save percentage while Charlie Lindgren is 10-4-2 with a 2.53 GAA and a .916 save percentage this season.

Montreal is 19-45 in their last 64 road games and 17-40 in their last 57 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 7-2-2 in their last 11 games overall. Washington is 10-2 in their last 12 games overall and 6-2 in their last 8 home games while the under is 13-6 in their last 19 games overall.

I get the reasoning for backing either side here, but I’m sticking with Washington -1.5 here. The Canadiens are an improved bunch after a rough go at it last year, but Washington, despite a loss in their last game, are still the far better team here and are in far better form and when the Capitals go down, they normally don’t stay down. I think this is a nice bounce back spot at home for the Caps, so give me Washington here.
