Calgary Flames vs Buffalo Sabres 10/20/22 NHL Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Buffalo Sabres and the Calgary Flames meet in NHL action from the Scotiabank Saddledome on Thursday night.

The Buffalo Sabres will look to build on their 4-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers in their last game. Rasmus Dahlin leads the Sabres with 4 points including a team-high 3 goals while Alex Tuch and JJ Peterka each have 3 points with a pair of goals. Victor Olofsson also has a pair of goals and Dylan Cozens has a pair of assists this season. Eric Comrie has gone 1-1 on the year with a 3.01 GAA and a .929 save percentage while Craig Anderson’s 1-0 with a 1.00 GAA and a .972 save percentage.

The Calgary Flames will try to build on a 3-2 win over the Vegas Golden Knights in their last game. Nazem Kadri has a team-high 4 points with 3 assists while Rasmus Andersson and Michael Stone each have a goal and a pair of assists. Jonathan Huberdeau and MacKenzie Weegar each have 3 assists while Tyler Toffoli, Elias Lindholm and Mikael Backlund each have a pair of goals as well this season. Jacob Markstrom is 2-0 with a 2.50 GAA and an .891 save percentage while Dan Vladar is 1-0 with a 3.00 GAA and an .897 save percentage this season.

Buffalo is 7-2 in their last 9 games overall and 37-95 in their last 132 road games while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games against the Pacific division. Calgary is 27-11 in their last 38 home games and 3-7 in their last 10 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600 while the over is 4-1-1 in their lat 6 home games.

I get the case to be made for the Flames at home, but the Flames have had trouble locking things down defensively and may have some issues against the Sabres, who have come out flying themselves. The Sabres usually start strong for the first month or so before collapsing closer to December, so we might as well ride this run while it’s hot, especially considering that the road team has won 7 of the last 8 meetings between the two. Give me the Sabres here.
