Dallas Stars vs Winnipeg Jets 10/17/22 NHL Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Winnipeg Jets and the Dallas Stars meet in NHL action from American Airlines Center on Monday night.

The Winnipeg Jets come into this one looking to build on their 4-1 win over the New York Rangers in their season opener. Mark Scheifele has a pair of goals and Nikolaj Ehlers has a pair of assists while Sam Gagner and Kyle Connor each have a goal as well. David Gustafsson, Josh Morrissey, Blake Wheeler, Piette-Luc Dubois and Saku Maenalanen each have an assist as well. Connor Hellebuyck got the win after stopping 40 of 41 shots faced in the win.

The Dallas Stars will be out to build on their back-to-back wins to start the year after their 5-1 win over Nashville last time out. Mason Marchment has a team-high 3 goals while Roope Hintz and Jason Robertson each have a team-high 4 points with Hintz logging a pair of goals and a pair of assists while Robertson’s got a team-high 3 assists. Tyler Seguin also has 3 assists while Joe Pavelski has a goal and a pair of assists as well this season. Miro Heiskanen also has a goal and an assist as well this season. Jake Oettinger has posted a 2-0 record with a 1.00 GAA and a .968 save percentage this season.

Winnipeg is 5-0 in their last 5 games overall and 4-0 in their last 4 games following a win while the under is 6-0 in their last 6 Monday games. Dallas is 35-16 in their last 51 home games and 5-1 in their last 6 games when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game while the under is 3-1-2 in their last 6 games overall.

I get the reasoning for backing Winnipeg at plus money given that the Jets looked really good in their opener against the Rangers. However, the Stars looked really good in taking care of business in sweeping the home and home against Nashville and the home team’s had the bulk of the recent success between these two teams. I’ll side with the Stars in this one.
