The Ottawa Senators and the Detroit Red Wings meet in NHL action from Little Caesars Arena on Tuesday night.
The Ottawa Senators will look to snap a three-game losing streak after a 4-3 loss to Winnipeg last time out. Brady Tkachuk leads the Sens in scoring with 56 points including 26 goals and 30 assists while Drake Batherson has 38 points with 24 assists and Josh Norris has 48 points with a team-high 32 goals on the year. Tim Stutzle also has 44 points with 15 goals and 29 assists. Anton Forsberg is 17-16-3 with a 2.73 GAA and a .917 save percentage this season for Ottawa in goal.
The Detroit Red Wings will look to bounce back from a 5-4 OT loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets last time out. Dylan Larkin leads Detroit in scoring with 68 points including a team-high 31 goals while Tyler Bertuzzi has 54 points with 26 goals this season. Lucas Raymond has 54 points with 22 goals and 32 apples. Moritz Seider also has 40 assists so far this season. Alex Nedeljkovic is 18-21-9 with a 3.34 GAA and a .900 save percentage in goal for Detroit while Thomas Greiss is 9-12-1 with a 3.63 GAA and an .890 save percentage this season.
Ottawa is 7-15 in their last 22 games overall and 48-126 in their last 174 road games while the over is 4-0-1 in their last 5 division games. Detroit is 1-4 in their last 5 home games and 42-94 in their last 136 division games while the over is 6-0 in their last 6 games as a favorite.
I get the case to be made either way, but I’m not looking to back either of these sides personally as both have been struggling as of late and are just palying out the string. With that said, both have been in higher scoring games and while the Senators won both meetings just a couple of weeks ago, both games had 7 goals and I think something similar could be in store here. Maybe not a 5-2 game, but I think 7 or more goals is more than doable. Give me the over.
