The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Detroit Red Wings meet in NHL action from Little Caesars Arena on Saturday night.

The Toronto Maple Leafs will look to build on their 4-3 win over Anaheim in a shootout last time out. Auston Matthews leads the Buds in scoring with 43 points including a team-high 25 goals while John Tavares also has 38 points with 16 goals and 22 assists. William Nylander’s also got 40 points with 17 goals and 23 assists. Morgan Rielly has a team-high 29 assists on the year. Jack Campbell’s made the bulk of the starts in goal for Toronto, going 20-6-3 with a 2.26 GAA and a .926 save percentage this season.

The Detroit Red Wings will hope to build on a 3-2 shootout win over Pittsburgh last time out. Tyler Bertuzzi leads the Red Wings in scoring with 38 points, including 18 assists with a team-high 20 goals and a team-high +13 plus/minus rating this season. Dylan Larkin also has 38 points with 20 goals and 18 assists while Lucas Raymond has 34 points with 11 goals and 23 apples. Moritz Seider also has 23 assists so far this season, sharing the team lead with the aforementioned Raymond. Alex Nedeljkovic is 12-11-5 with a 2.89 GAA and a .912 save percentage in goal for Detroit while Thomas Greiss is 6-7-1 with a 3.36 GAA and an .894 save percentage this season.

Toronto is 11-2 in their last 13 games as a road favorite and 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 10-1 in their last 11 games when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game. Detroit is 0-5 in their last 5 games as a home underdog and 1-5 in their last 6 games following a win while the over is 8-1 in their last 9 games played on no rest.

I get the case that could be made for the plus money as Detroit’s been good record-wise at home this season. However, the Red Wings have stumbled lately and that’s not good against a Toronto team that will make you pay and feast on your mistakes. I’ll take my chances laying the -1.5 with Toronto on the puck line.
