Oilers vs Flames Prediction 10/8/25 NHL Picks Today

The Calgary Flames and the Edmonton Oilers meet Wednesday in NHL action from Rogers Place. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Oilers vs Flames Prediction.

Calgary Flames Team Preview

The Calgary Flames come into this game looking to take a step in the right direction once again after a frustrating end to their campaign, finishing on the outside looking in despite logging 96 points last season. Jonathan Huberdeau and Nazem Kadri are both back after sitting as Calgary’s lone pair of 50-point scorers from last season’s lineup, but they’ll need support to improve on a Calgary offense that scored just 225 goals last season, 6th-fewest in the NHL. Matt Coronato had a breakout season after recording 24 goals and 47 points and it’s just about staying healthy. Zayne Parekh is likely going to be a cornerstone of the Flames’ defense after recording 107 points in the OHL with Saginaw and MacKenzie Weegar will be a big part of that defensive grouping as well. In goal, Dustin Wolf is back after a fantastic 2024-25 season, going 29-16-8 with a .910 save percentage and it looks like Ivan Prosvetov will back Wolf up this season.

Edmonton Oilers Team Preview

The Edmonton Oilers will be looking to finish the job in 2025-26 after falling short against the Panthers in the Stanley Cup final for the second consecutive season. The Oilers kept most of their core intact, with Connor McDavid signing a 2-year contract extension in the eleventh hour just before the season started, while Leon Draisaitl also comes back as McDavid’s right-hand man after finishing 3rd in the NHL in scoring with 106 points and a league-high 52 goals. On defense, the group the Oilers had last year pretty much runs it back with the lone subtraction being John Klingberg, who ended up in San Jose. Mattias Ekholm and Evan Bouchard will anchor the top defensive pairing for the Oilers and the goaltending will remain the same with Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard bringing a volatile 1-2 punch to the Oilers’ crease in 2025-26.

Oilers vs Flames Prediction

I’m going to take a shot on Calgary here. I think it’s important for folks to remember that Edmonton got out to a sluggish start last season after their Stanley Cup final appearance the season prior, and one of the losses they took early on was against the Flames. The Flames get up for this matchup and always play the Oilers tough and while the Oilers will be fine, I feel like Calgary has a bit more stability in the crease in this matchup. I’ll side with Calgary in this one.
