The Philadelphia Flyers and the Los Angeles Kings meet in NHL action from the Crypto.com Arena on Saturday night.
The Philadelphia Flyers will look to bounce back from a 3-2 OT loss to San Jose last time out. Claude Giroux leads the Flyers in scoring with 11 goals and a team-high 16 assists as part of his 27-point tally this season. Sean Couturier has 17 points with 6 goals and 11 assists while Cam Atkinson has a team-high 12 goals of his own with a team-high +13 plus/minus and Joel Farabee has 7 goals of his own this season. Carter Hart’s gone 7-8-4 with a 2.74 GAA and a .918 save percentage in goal for the Flyers while Martin Jones has gone 6-4-1 with a 3.20 GAA and a .911 save percentage this season.
The Los Angeles Kings will be out to build on their 2-1 shootout win over Vancouver in their last game. Anze Kopitar leads the Kings in scoring with 28 points including a team-high 19 assists and 9 goals while Alex Iafallo has 10 goals, logging 20 points while Adrian Kempe’s point total is at 19 with a team-high 13 goals of his own. Jonathan Quick’s gone 9-7-4 with a 2.33 GAA and a .923 save percentage this season between the pipes for the Kings while Cal Petersen’s gone 5-5-1 with a 3.10 GAA and an .893 save percentage.
Philadelphia is 2-10 in their last 12 games as an underdog and 1-6 in their last 7 games when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games against the Pacific division. Los Angeles is 1-6 in their last 7 games following a win and 1-5 in their last 6 games in a fourth game of a 4-in-6 situation while the under is 7-1 in their last 8 games played on 1 day’s rest.
I could understand the Kings being favored at home with maybe a coin flip or a light price tag attached to them, but this an extreme price for a Kings team that’s looked like a team in a rebuild, a team that we expected to see in Los Angeles this season. Philadelphia hasn’t been great either, but they’ve picked it up as of late and I simply trust them more and this is just where the value is.
