The Toronto Maple Leafs started their European road trip with a 3-2 win over Detroit last time out for their 3rd straight W. William Nylander leads the Leafs in points with 25 points this season including 11 goals and a team-high 14 assists while Auston Matthews has 19 points with a team-high 13 goals. Mitch Marner has 18 points with 13 assists while John Tavares has 19 points with 7 goals and 12 assists this season. Joseph Woll has posted a 5-4 record with a 2.91 GAA and a .908 save percentage while Ilya Samsonov is 4-1-2 with a 3.56 GAA and an .878 save percentage between the pipes for Toronto this season.
Wild Lose 4th Straight
The Minnesota Wild come into this one looking to rebound from a 2-1 shootout loss in their last matchup to the Ottawa Senators for their 4th straight L. Mats Zuccarello has a team-high 17 points including a team-high 13 assists while Joel Eriksson Ek also has 14 points with a team-high 8 goals and 6 assists. Kirill Kaprizov’s added 15 points of his own with 10 assists and Ryan Hartman’s added 11 points with 7 goals this season. Filip Gustavsson has posted a 2-4-1 record with a 4.64 GAA and an .872 save percentage while Marc-Andre Fleury is 3-3-1 with a 2.75 GAA and an .898 save percentage this season.
I’m taking Toronto here. I just trust their goaltending more in a spot like this and the Wild just don’t look like the consistent Wild team we’ve seen in years past as the Wild just look lost. The goaltending rarely shows up, and when it does like it did last time out, the Wild get held to one goal. Toronto’s got more firepower in this matchup in my opinion and they’re just flat out playing the better hockey. Give me the Leafs here.
