New Jersey Devils vs Philadelphia Flyers Prediction 10/1/26 NHL Picks Today

The Philadelphia Flyers and the New Jersey Devils meet Thursday in NHL action from the Xfinity Mobile Arena. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Philadelphia Flyers vs. New Jersey Devils prediction.

Philadelphia Flyers Recap

The Philadelphia Flyers come into this game looking to rebound from a 7-0 loss at the hands of the rival Pittsburgh Penguins last time out to start the year at 0-1. After this game, the Flyers will head back home for a game against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Flyer defense had no answers for Pittsburgh in the loss, giving up multiple goals in every period as well as allowing a pair of power-play goals and a short-handed goal as well with the special teams on the ice. Dan Vladar ended up with the loss after allowing all 7 goals on 38 shots faced in the losing effort to start the year at 0-1.

New Jersey Devils Team Preview

The New Jersey Devils come into the 2026-27 season looking to take a step back towards the playoffs after going 42-37-5 last season, missing the playoffs and failing to make the postseason in back-to-back years once again. The Devils retain a lot of their top tier offensive talent, including Jack Hughes and captain Nico Hischier. The Devils made one of the sneakier coups of the offseason, acquiring Evan Rodrigues from the Predators to go along with top-six forwards like Jesper Bratt and Timo Meier. In goal, the Devils shipped out Jacob Markstrom, leaving the reins to the likes of ake Allen and Nico Daws going forward.

Philadelphia Flyers vs. New Jersey Devils Prediction

I’m on the Flyers in this one. I get the case to be made for either side here, after the flyers looked dead in the water on Wednesday. That being said, I think the Flyers are a better team than what they showed and we saw with Toronto on Wednesday, playing on a back-to-back to start the year isn’t a death sentence as it allows you to shake off the rust. Add in the motivation of the Flyers looking to bounce back from that blowout, and I think the Flyers are a great value here.
