The Seattle Kraken and the New York Rangers meet in NHL action from Madison Square Garden on Sunday afternoon.
The Seattle Kraken come into this one fairly rested after having Saturday’s matchup with the Islanders postponed because of inclement weather. Jared McCann leads the Kraken with 26 points with a team-high 17 goals while Jordan Eberle has 24 points split between 12 goals and 12 assists and Yanni Gourde has 22 points with 9 goals and 13 assists. Alex Wennberg has 21 points with 17 assists this season. Philipp Grubauer’s seen the majority of Seattle’s action in goal going 11-16-4 with a 3.20 GAA and an .885 save percentage this season.
The New York Rangers come into this one on back-to-back losses after a 3-2 loss to Minnesota last time out. Artemi Panarin leads the Rangers in scoring with 48 points including 12 goals and 36 assists while Adam Fox is right behind with 47 points including a team-high 40 assists. Chris Kreider has 44 points with a team-high 31 goals and 15 power play goals while Mika Zibanejad also has 44 points with 16 goals and 28 assists. Igor Shesterkin’s seen the majority of New York’s action in goal, going 20-5-2 with a 2.10 GAA and a .936 save percentage this season, while Alexandar Georgiev has gone 7-7-2 with a 2.92 GAA and an .898 save percentage.
Seattle is 2-9 in their last 11 games as an underdog and 1-5 in their last 6 games following a win while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game. New York is 5-1 in their last 6 home games and 6-1 in their last 7 Sunday games while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games as a home favorite.
I get the allure of the plus money with Seattle now that the Kraken have a couple of wins recently and now get an impromptu day off after the postponement but that doesn’t change the fact that the Rangers have been playing some of the best hockey across the board in the league this season. I just don’t see Seattle breaking down the Rangers here, so give me New York at home in this one.
