Ottawa Senators vs Edmonton Oilers 1/31/22 NHL Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Edmonton Oilers and the Ottawa Senators meet in NHL action from the Canadian Tire Center on Monday night.

The Edmonton Oilers will look to build on their four-game winning streak after a 7-2 win over Montreal. Leon Draisaitl leads the Oilers in scoring with 61 points while Connor McDavid is right behind with 58 points, with Draisaitl logging a team-high 31 goals and 30 assists while McDavid has a team-high 37 assists this season. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has 30 points with 25 assists while Jesse Puljujarvi has 25 points and Zach Hyman has 13 goals. Mikko Koskinen’s seen the majority of Edmonton’s action in goal, going 15-8-1 with a 3.18 GAA and a .900 save percentage this season.

The Ottawa Senators will look to bounce back from a 2-1 loss to Anaheim last time out. Drake Batherson leads the Sens in scoring with 34 points including a team-high 21 assists while Josh Norris has 26 points with a team-high 18 goals and 8 assists. Brady Tkachuk has 27 points with 12 goals and 15 assists as well this season. Filip Gustavsson’s gone 3-8-1 in goal for Ottawa, putting up a 3.80 GAA and an .893 save percentage while Anton Forsberg is 7-7-1 with a 2.95 GAA and a .911 save percentage.

Edmonton is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall and 1-6 in their last 7 games against the Atlantic division while the under is 5-1-1 in their last 7 games when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in the previous game. Ottawa is 1-5 in their last 6 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 home games.

I get the case to be made either way here, as plus money with a home dog can be tempting and Edmonton is solid, but my lean is going towards the Oilers because Edmonton looks like they’re back on track and the Sens look more and more like a rebuilding team right now despite all the young talent in their lineup.
