Vancouver Canucks vs Calgary Flames NHL Picks, Odds, Predictions 2/11/21

The Calgary Flames and the Vancouver Canucks meet in NHL action from Rogers Place on Thursday night.

The Calgary Flames will look to build off of a 3-2 win over Winnipeg in their last matchup. Johnny Gaudreau and Elias Lindholm lead the Flames in scoring with 13 points apiece, including Gaudreau’s 7 goals and 6 assists and Lindholm’s 4 goals and 9 helpers. Matthew Tkachuk and Sean Monahan each have 10 points with Tkachuk logging 5 goals and 5 helpers and Monahan posting 8 assists this season. Mikael Backlund also has 8 points for Calgary this year with 3 goals and 5 assists. Jacob Markstrom’s started the majority of Calgary’s starts in goal, going 6-4 with a pair of shutouts and a 2.50 GAA this season.

The Vancouver Canucks will try to bounce back from a 3-1 loss to Toronto in their last outing. Quinn Hughes leads Vancouver in scoring with 17 points including a team-high 16 assists while Brock Boeser has 15 points with 9 goals and 6 assists and J.T. Miller has 13 points with 3 goals and 10 helpers. Bo Horvat has 12 points with 6 goals and 6 assists and Elias Pettersson’s chipped in 11 points with 5 goals and 6 helpers. Thatcher Demko and Braden Holtby each have 8 starts and a 3-5 record with a GAA in the high-threes this season.

Calgary is 12-4 in the last 16 games as a favorite as a favorite and 6-0 in their last 6 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 3-1-1 in their last 5 road games. Vancouver is 0-5 in their last 5 games overall and 5-2 in their last 7 home games overall while over is 4-1 in their last 5 games as a home underdog. Calgary is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.

I honestly can’t trust either of these goaltenders as far as I can throw them mainly because they haven’t been able to keep the puck out of the net this season. With that said, there’s still a lot of offensive firepower on both sides, so I’m going to side with the over here, I think we can easy see ourselves getting past 7-8 goals in this one, so give me the over.
