The Dallas Stars and the Washington Capitals meet in NHL action from the Capital One Arena on Thursday night.
The Dallas Stars will look to build on a 4-1 win over New Jersey in their last game. Jason Robertson has a team-high 43 points and Roope Hintz has 34 points with Hintz logging a team-high 21 assists and Robertson posting a team-high 23 goals and 20 assists while Joe Pavelski also has 10 goals and 29 points this season. The Washington Capitals will try to build on a five-game win streak after a 7-3 win over Chicago last time out. Alex Ovechkin has a team-high 34 points with a team-high 20 goals and 14 assists. Dylan Strome also has 23 points with 17 assists while Evgeny Kuznetsov also has a team-high 19 assists as part of his 23 points up to this point in the year. Darcy Kuemper has gone 8-9-2 with a 2.56 GAA and an .916 save percentage while Charlie Lindgren is 7-3-2 with a 2.81 GAA and a .909 save percentage this season.
Dallas is 30-12 in their last 42 games against a team with a losing record and 21-9 in their last 30 games against the Metropolitan division while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 road games. Washington is 5-0 in their last 5 games overall and 4-1 in their last 5 home games while the under is 9-3 in their last 12 games overall.
I get the case to be made for either side here, and Dallas has had the bulk of the success between these two teams in Washington. However, the Capitals are on fire right now and have righted the ship after a rough patch over the last couple of weeks. The Caps have also picked up their play with Alex Ovechkin’s chase of Wayne Gretzky’s goal-scoring record. I think we’re getting some great value here on the Capitals so give me Washington at home here.
