The main story for this year is Alex Ovechkin’s chase to be the all-time leading goalscorer, with Ovechkin entering the season 41 goals back of equalling Wayne Gretzky’s mark.

Around Ovi, the Caps were busy adding pieces like Pierre-Luc Dubois and Andrew Mangiapane, while Logan Thompson was brought in to shoulder some of the goaltending workload alongside Charlie Lindgren.
