The Calgary Stampeders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers meet Friday in CFL action at Investors Group Field.
The Calgary Stampeders look for their first road victory of the year to build on their 1-0-1 record. The Calgary Stampeders are 6-1-1 in their last eight road games. Bo Levi Mitchell is completing 63.3 percent of his passes for 671 yards, seven touchdowns and zero interceptions. Levi Mitchell has 37 touchdown passes in his last 19 games played. Lemar Durant and Kamar Jorden have combined for 307 receiving yards and four touchdowns while Marquay McDaniel has 13 receptions. The Calgary Stampeders ground game is averaging 89 yards per contest, and Jerome Messam leads the way with 116 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Calgary is allowing 35 points and 461 yards per game. Alex Singleton leads the Calgary Stampeders with 15 tackles, Micah Johnson has three sacks and Jamar Wall has one interception.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers look for another nice victory after beating the Saskatchewan Roughriders in double overtime last week. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have won four of their last six home games. Matt Nichols is completing 63.9 percent of his passes for 331 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. Nichols has 22 touchdown passes in his last 16 games played. Weston Dressler and Darvin Adams have combined for 203 receiving yards and three touchdowns while L'Damian Washington has two receptions. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers ground game is averaging 96 yards per contest, and Andrew Harris leads the way with 57 yards on 13 carries. Defensively, Winnipeg is allowing 40 points and 397 yards per game. Chris Randle leads the Winnipeg Blue Bombers with eight tackles, Jamaal Westerman has one sack and TJ Heath has one interception.
The Stampeders are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 road games, 35-16-1 ATS in their last 52 Friday games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Blue Bombers are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games, 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Friday games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Stampeders are 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings in Winnipeg and the over is 2-0-2 in the last 4 meetings.
The Stampeders have won the last six games against the Blue Bombers, as Winnipeg hasn't beaten Calgary since November of 2014. It's no secret the Stampeders are the best team in the CFL and have an offense that can blow you out of the building if you're not careful. However, Calgary has allowed a combined 70 points in its first two games and could easily be 0-2 on the season. The Blue Bombers lit it up in the season opener and should have a nice home crowd welcoming it in Manitoba. I like the value of the points here in a game Winnipeg could win outright if the Stampeders continue to struggle defensively.
