The Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Ottawa Redblacks meet Friday in CFL action at TD Place Stadium.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers look for their second road win to improve to 3-0 on the season. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have split their last six road games. Matt Nichols is completing 63 percent of his passes for 384 yards, six touchdowns and one interception. Nichols has two or more touchdown passes in four of his last seven games. Lucky Whitehead and Darvin Adams have combined for 231 receiving yards and three touchdowns while Andrew Harris has seven receptions. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers ground game is averaging 126.5 yards per contest, and Harris leads the way with 182 yards on 26 carries. Defensively, Winnipeg is allowing 22 points and 386.5 yards per game. Chandler Fenner leads the Winnipeg Blue Bombers with 14 tackles, Drake Nevis has one sack and Jeff Hecht has two interceptions.
The Ottawa Redblacks also look to remain undefeated and are coming off a bye week. The Ottawa Redblacks have won four of their last five home games. Dominique Davis is completing 71.1 percent of his passes for 630 yards, three touchdowns and four interceptions. Davis has six touchdown passes and five interceptions in his last 83 pass attempts. Dominique Rhymes and RJ Harris have combined for 309 receiving yards and two touchdowns while Brad Sinopoli has 12 receptions. The Ottawa Redblacks ground game is averaging 109 yards per contest, and Mossis Madu leads the way with 162 yards and on 38 carries. Defensively, Ottawa is allowing 34.5 points and 398 yards per game. Corey Tindal leads the Ottawa Redblacks with eight tackles, Michael Wakefield has two sacks and Jonathan Rose has one interception.
The Blue Bombers are 21-8 ATS in their last 29 road games, 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games in July and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The RedBlacks are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games in July, 4-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Blue Bombers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 meetings in Ottawa and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings. The over is 4-1 in RedBlacks last 5 home games. The under is 5-2 in Blue Bombers last 7 games overall.
The Ottawa Redblacks may be unbeaten, but they've been shaky defensively through two games and needed to survive two shootouts. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have been a bend but don't break defense and should have earned serious attention after holding an explosive Eskimos offense to nothing but field goals. I said before the season that the Winnipeg Blue Bombers were the best team in the league and should make a run for the Grey Cup. The Blue Bombers have done nothing to change the way I feel about them and they've been covering machines on the road these past three years. I'll take the free points with the better team.
