The Abilene Christian Wildcats battle the New Orleans Privateers for the Southland college basketball championship.

The Abilene Christian Wildcats squeezed by the stubborn Southeastern Louisiana Lions 69-66 on Friday to secure their spot in the Southland title game.

Payten Ricks was the Wildcats go to scorer with a contest high 21 points, five pulls and three steals with Jaren Lewis netting 17 points and hauling in eleven rebounds.

The twosome of Jaylen Franklin and Damien Daniels gave Abilene Christian ten points each with a combined eight boards and six helpers.

The balanced Privateers saw 18 points and three yanks from Jorge Rosa while Troy Green added 14 points, three pulls, five helpers and three steals.

Damion Rosser and Gerrale Gates gave New Orleans eleven points each followed by Scott Plaisance with nine points and another four pulls.

New Orleans Privateers are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall and  are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 vs. Southland and are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 neutral site games.

Abilene Christian Wildcats are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS loss and are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. Southland.

I had Abilene Christian as the best team in the conference above Sam Houston State. I think the Wildcats have the blow out potential but another effort like we saw from New Orleans on Friday says we could have another dogfight...

New Orleans +6

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
