The Line: Air Force Falcons +8.5 -- Over/Under:
We have some Mountain West conference college basketball action on Wednesday night as the San Diego State Aztecs face off against the Air Force Falcons.
The San Diego State Aztecs will look to build on back-to-back conference wins, including a 94-56 rout of UNLV in their last outing. Matt Mitchell led SDSU with 21 points on 7 of 9 shooting with a pair of threes and 3 steals, while Jalen McDaniels came 2nd with 18 points along with 12 rebounds for the double-double. Malik Pope and Max Montana each logged 17 points to round out the scoring in double figures for the Aztecs, with Pope shooting 8 of 13 with 9 rebounds and 3 blocks, while Montana shot 6 of 13 with 5 threes in just 18 minutes. Trey Kelly dished out a team-high 6 assists and Jeremy Hemsley logged 5 helpers while Devin Watson put up 6 points in the win. Watson still leads San Diego State with an average of 12.8 points and 4 assists per game while McDaniels leads the Aztecs on the glass with 7.2 rebounds per game this season. As a team, San Diego State is scoring 78.2 points per game on 46% shooting from the field, 34.8% from behind the arc and 72.6% from the foul line this season.
The Air Force Falcons could use a win here after dropping back-to-back outings and 5 of their last 7 following a 76-52 loss to Boise State in their last outing. Lavelle Scottie led the Falcons with 11 points on 5 of 14 shooting while Keaton Van Soelen added 10 points and 3 assists as the only other Air Force player to finish in double figures scoring in the loss. Trevor Lyons hauled in a team-high 6 rebounds while CJ Siples dished out 3 assists of his own for Air Force in the losing effort. Scottie leads Air Force in scoring with 12.1 points per game while Lyons leads the Falcons in assists with 3 helpers per game and Ryan Swan leads Air Force on the glass with 4.6 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Air Force is scoring 68.7 points per game on 42% shooting from the field, 32.4% from behind the arc and 74.8% from the foul line this season.
San Diego State is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games and 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. Air Force is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games overall while the under is 21-7 in their last 28 games against a team with a winning record. San Diego State is 2-9 ATS in the last 11 meetings between these two teams and 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings at Air Force.
San Diego State really made me eat my words after putting forth some solid outings in their last couple of games, especially after that beatdown of UNLV. However, both of those games were at home and San Diego State has really struggled on the road this season. Air Force doesn’t always win and they’re rarely pretty, but they’re doing a good job ATS and are 7-1 ATS at home this season and have had the upper hand ATS when playing San Diego State, so I’ll take a shot with Air Force and the near double digits at home in this one.
