The Line: Akron Zips -13 -- Over/Under: 147
The Detroit Titans and the Akron Zips will match up on the college basketball court on Saturday.
Detroit comes in here at 3-4 on the season. The Titans have taken out Loyola MD, Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan but fallen to Western Michigan, Temple, Butler and Kent State this year.
In the Flashes game, Detroit’s Antoine Davis had a nice line on 30 points and two rebounds with one assist. Derrien King (13 points; six rebounds) and Chris Brandon (12 points; six rebounds) were the only other Titans in double-figures there.
Over on the Akron side, they’re sitting at 5-2 this season. The Zips dropped close ones to Clemson and Illinois State but have beaten Cedarville, Youngstown State, Chicago State, St. Bonaventure and Alabama State so far.
In the Hornets matchup, Akron was led by Tyler Cheese’s 19 points, five assists and four rebounds. Jimond Ivey also had a solid performance, nearly doubling up on 13 points, nine rebounds and six assists.
The Titans are 5-0 ATS in their last five following an ATS win and 6-0 ATS in their last six non-conference games. Detroit is also 6-0 ATS in their last six overall and 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games.
Meanwhile, the Zips are 5-1 ATS in their last six non-conference games and 5-1 ATS in their last six overall. Akron is 9-3 ATS in their last 12 versus the Horizon League and 4-0 ATS in their last four after a straight-up win.
Detroit’s record is pretty sketchy so far this year, but over their last four games they’re 3-1 and have been pretty competitive overall.
As for Akron, they’ve put up a couple of duds this season but were also very competitive in their losses. I’m going to stick with the Zips to keep things rolling here and cover.
