Akron Zips -7.5 O/U: 130
The Eastern Michigan Eagles and the Akron Zips will match up in college basketball action on Tuesday.
Eastern Michigan is sitting at .500 right now with an 8-8 record overall. Following consecutive losses to Kansas and Buffalo, the Eagles have beaten both Ball State and Kent State.
In the win over the Golden Flashes, Eastern Michigan’s Elijah Minnie put up 22 points, eight rebounds and two assists to lead the team. James Thompson added 18 points and six boards for the Eagles and Paul Jackson put up 17 points with seven assists.
Over on the Akron side, they’re 9-7 this season. The Zips had won consecutive games versus Carnegie Mellon and Western Michigan, but they’ve lost their last pair versus Central Michigan and Northern Illinois.
In the loss to the Huskies, no Akron player managed to score in double-figures. Daniel Utomi got close with nine points, three rebounds and one assist for the Zips, as did Channel Banks, with nine points and one rebound.
The Eagles are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 versus the MAC and 4-1 ATS in their last five Tuesday games. Eastern Michigan is 8-2 ATS in their last 10 following an ATS win and 2-7 ATS in their last nine overall.
Meanwhile, the Zips are 2-6 ATS in their last eight overall and 4-14 ATS in their last 18 Tuesday games. Akron is 1-4 ATS in their last five following an ATS loss and 0-4 ATS in their last four versus the MAC.
EMU looked pretty darn good against a good Kent State team, outscoring the Golden Flashes 56-29 in the second half on the way to a 95-61 win. It’s nice to see the Eagles put up nice scoring totals in consecutive games, which is something they’ve had trouble with this season.
As for Akron, they’ve shown a few sparks this year, but haven’t been all that consistent. The blown lead and 22-point second half against the Huskies don’t help matters, either.
I’m going to stick with the hot hand here in Eastern Michigan on the cover.
