The Akron Zips welcome the Tennessee State Tigers to town for non-conference college basketball action.

The Tennessee State Tigers missed out on consecutive victories in a 78-76 loss to visiting North Carolina A&T on Saturday. Tennessee State held a slight 52.1%-50.8% edge in marksmanship but were done in by 18 giveaways which led to 15 more Aggies shots.

Donte Fitzpatrick-Dorsey kept the Tigers competitive with 23 points and seven boards on 7-12 accuracy and 7-8 at the line while Stokley Chaffee Jr. adding 13 points and eight rebounds on 5-6 from the floor. Armani Chaney gave Tennessee State 12 points, three yanks and six helpers followed by Kamar Knight with eight points.

The Akron Zips are staring at back to back losses after a 75-74 loss to visiting Marshall as a 4.5 point home favorite on Saturday. 

The Zips trailed by six heading to the intermission and nearly pulled this out with a 46.4%-42.9% shooting edge but the Thundering Herd managed seven more shots and were 12-26 from beyond the arc. 

Loren Cristian Jackson led all scorers with 26 points and five helpers on 8-18 from the field including 5-8 from distance followed by Daniel Utomi with 18 points and five boards on 6-12 accuracy and four more long balls. Akron received 14 points and four assists from Tyler Cheese on 6-14 with Jimond Ivey adding nine points and six rebounds.
